The Tigers find home to be a pleasant place. Finaly. After waiting a year for their new field to be completed, they they woke up Wednesday morning like it was Christmas only to have their long-awaited field opener cancelled due to a scheduling misunderstanding.
One day later Terra Nova finally christened its new home with a come-from-behind 4-2 victory over San Lorenzo Valley.
In a game dotted with close, and sometimes questionable, calls, the biggest one went the Tigers' way.
Down 2-0 Spencer Spidel led off the bottom of the fifth with a walk, Isaac Roman then hit a comebacker that was thrown to second to start what looked like a double play. However, bother runners were called safe on the play.
Wes McDougal then bunted down the third-base line. The ball began in foul territory but eventually rolled fair to load the bases. An errant pickoff attempt at third scored one run and Brody Finale followed by drilling a two-run double to give the Tigers the lead for good.
A McDougal sacrifice fly in the sixth made it 4-2.
Gio Defilippis, who relieved starter Cooper Santamato in the fifth, faced just 11 batters over the last three innings to pick up the win.

Three things We Liked
- A 70-degree day in Pacifica. And baseball returning to the Coastside.
- Bunts and opposite-field hitting. "Once a week, we bunt a down both baselines using a bucket as our target," Wes McDougal said. Brody Finale doesn't get enough credit for his opposite-field approach.
- Sprinting down the first-base line after a walk. Kudos to Spencer Spidel, who even rounded first base when the ball bounded away from the catcher and went to the screen. That's old-school baseball.
