Menlo-Atherton broke a 6-6 tie with a run in the eighth to beat The King's Academy and improve to 7-11. And despite the convenience store record, the Bears find themselves right in the thick of the PAL-Bay Division title chase.

The Bears got a gutsy outing from Caden Lewis, who went eight innings, allowing 11 hits and six runs while striking out seven. It wasn't an overpowering performance, but it was just what the Bears needed.

The victory gives the Bears a 4-3 record in the Bay Division, a game behind the Knights, heading into Friday's series finale in Sunnyvale.

Offensively, freshmen Jake Scott continues to raise eyebrows with his power. He had two hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Owen Coupe, another freshman, added two hits, while Max Brubacher drove in a pair.

The Knights were led by Nate Plata, who had a homer, double and two RBI. Brandon Kinoshita and Justin Cho had two hits each, while Dominic Myung and Wyatt Smith had two RBI each.

Donati wasn't the only star in Terra Nova's 13-run, 16-hit uprising. Brody Finale had his first four-hit games of the season, while winning pitcher Aiden James has three hits and Wes McDougal two.

The Tigers had seven extra-base hits.

Tino Janke had three hits, including two doubles for Mills, while George Campos tied the game at two with a second-inning two-run homer.

Sacred Heart Prep 5, Aragon 2, 8 innings

The Gators won their 10th straight game by scoring three runs in the top of the eighth to snap a 2-2 tie and maintain possession of a share of the PAL-Ocean Division lead.

Sacred Heart Prep and San Mateo, each of which has a 7-1 record in the Ocean Division, will meet next week in a series that could go a long way in deciding the league championship.

With the game tied at 2, the Gators broke it open, thanks to the Dons' inability to find the strike zone. Colin Beim led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Brayden Berta. Kyle Reed walked and Drew Parker loaded the bases with his fourth hit of the game.

A walk to Thomas Barton scored Beim and made it a 3-2 game. Nico Pollioni was hit by a pitch to force in another run and Blake Affrunti singled in Parker to close out the scoring.

Pollioni and Affrunti had two hits each, while the Dons managed just three hits, including a double by Sean Tam. Aragon will face Mills next week in a series that begins Tuesday in San Mateo.

Burlingame 2, Sequoia 1

Nash Trautwein struck out 10 in six innings of work and the Panthers stayed near the top of the Bay Division standings.

The two teams will close out their series with a game in Redwood City on Friday.

Trautwein got the only offense he'd need on a two-run double by Mark O'Grady to rally Burlingame from an early one-run deficit. O'Grady recorded two strikeouts in the seventh inning to pick up the save.
