Bellarmine solidified its CCS tourney resume on Saturday with a 20-7 victory over The King's Academy that places the Bells at .500 heading into Tuesday's WCAL tournament opener with Saint Francis.
The King's Academy, meanwhile, will have to play the waiting game and win at least one game in its final PAL Bay Division series with Sacred Heart Prep, which begins on Wednesday in Sunnyvale.
Bellarmine (12-12) sent 12 batters to the plate in the third inning and came away with nine runs on five hits. The big hit in the frame was a three-run homer by Dom Borelli.
The Bells had four players – Preston Pera, Nathan Chew, Emmett Arnott and Sam Mendoza – collect three hits each, while Chew, Pera and Borelli drove in three runs each.
Dominic Myung homered for the second straight game for the Knights (11-11). His three-run shot in the fourth inning was too little, too late.
Noah Liu pitched two innings to pick up the victory. He struck out three.
