Carlmont won its fourth straight game and climbed back to .500 for the season with a 9-0 victory at Riordan.
The Crusaders lost their fifth straight game to fall to 4-9.
Two weeks ago, Carlmont hit rock-bottom with a 12-inning loss at Terra Nova that marked the Scots' sixth straight loss. But rock-bottom is a relative term, something the Scots insist never affected them.
"We have a confidence that never dies ever after a loss," said Levi Wellman, who had three hits on Saturday. "This team is special unlike any other team I've been on."
We'll learn a lot about Carlmont this week when it takes on Sequoia in a PAL-Bay Division series, beginning Wednesday in Redwood City. The Scots will host the Ravens on Friday.
On Saturday, Riordan played much of the game without two of their coaches, who were ejected in the second inning after arguing a call. At that time, the Carlmont had a 1-0 lead, and they went on to pad that advantage the rest of the way.
Jacob Shinseki went five innings to earn his second victory in Carlmont's current winning streak.
Wellman and Giancarlo Enferadi had three hits each to lead the Scots 15-hit attack, while Nate Werbinski, Mitchell Wong and Benjamin Taylor each had two hits. Enferadi drove in two runs.
Santino Williams had two hits for the Crusaders.

Sacred Heart Prep 6, Menlo-Atherton 5
Sacred Heart Prep scored two runs in the top of the seventh and held off a Menlo-Atherton rally in the bottom of the inning to walk away with the victory at Stanford's Sunkin Diamond.
With the score tied, 4-4, Thomas Barton led off the seventh with a single. He moved to third on a stolen base and wild pitch. Nico Pollioni was hit by a pitch and Blake Affrunti walked to load the bases.
JP Durrett's sacrifice fly scored Barton and gave the Gators a 5-4 lead. Sacred Heart added another run to make it 6-4.
Menlo-Atherton scored a run in the bottom of the seventh on a Joseph Pagee single and a Jack Willbanks double to the wall in left field. Pollioni made big defensive play when he pounced from behind the plate on a bunt and nailed Willbanks at third.
Affrunti struck out Ryder Kelly for the final out of the game.

Mitty 18, Homestead 0
The Monarchs rebounded nicely from this week's sweep at the hands of Saint Francis by pounding out 13 hits and holding the visiting Mustangs hitless.
Michael Park led the hitting attack with three hits and two RBI, while Felix Chang and Kelen Johnson had two hits each, and leadoff man Noah Fishman drove in three runs.
Meanwhile Jonah Ferrell and Nico Mato combined on the no-hitter. Ferrell did the lion's share of the work, throwing four innings, while Mata closed things out in the five-inning contest.
Mitty returns to action on Wednesday against Menlo-Atherton.

The Eagles picked up their first non-league win by topping the visiting Cougars.
Mitesh Jain, Anders Wood and Jonah Altschuler had two hits each for Los Altos, which had nine hits in the game.
Half Moon Bay's big hit game on a three-run triple by Lane Giannini to account for all of the Cougars' runs.
A not-so-fun fact: Half Moon Bay fell to 6-5. Of their five losses, four of them have come in Saturday matinees.

Burlingame 1, Sacred Heart Cathedral 0
A Bay Division team claimed its second win of the day over a WCAL opponent. This time it was the Panthers, who broke a scoring deadlock with an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh.
With two outs and runners on first and second, Aaron Lau grounded one to the right side that was booted for an error, allowing Slade Flores to score from second and give Burlingame the walk-off win.
The unearned run was the only blemish on Cooper Rogers-Lewis' pitching line. The lefty allowed just three hits, while striking out 10. He and the combination of Nash Trautwein and Dan Sheehan spent the night at Washington Park posting goose eggs.
Trautwein went five innings, allowing just two hits, while Sheehan pitched the last two innings and allowed two hits while picking up the win.
Charlie Cheng has two hits for Burlingame.

Sequoia 9, Mountain View 3
Morgan Winfield showed again that while his high school pitching career might be finished, his bat is still more than lethal enough to help Sequoia win a PAL-Bay Division crown.
One week after injuring his right elbow while pitching for the Ravens, Winfield hit his fourth home run of the season. This comes off a two-hit performance in Friday night's 3-1 loss to Terra Nova.
So, in other words, he remains an offensive force. And so do the Ravens, who scored nine runs on Saturday and have now scored at least seven runs in eight of their 11 games this year.
Sophomore Ollie Connelly and senior Garrett Johnson had two hits each, while Cole Hymer and Johnson drove in two runs apiece.
Preston Huang had two hits for the Spartans, who fell to 2-9 as we near the halfway point of the season.

Aragon 5, Lowell 3
Aragon continues to prove that they are a team that will compete in the PAL-Ocean Division. A win over Lowell, which entered Saturday with nine wins, is the latest indicator.
Kai Thornton and James Wright had two hits and drove in two runs each for the Dons, who improved to 7-4.
The Dons will take on Watsonville on Wednesday before returning to Ocean Division play the following week with a suddenly important series against South San Francisco.
