Everything that's unfolded over the last three months was just a dress rehearsal for what will take place over the next three weeks, beginning on Tuesday when the West Catholic Athletic League tournament begins.
There is the chance that all eight teams – even cellar-dwelling Riordan (9-17-1), which went 2-12 in league play, but 7-5-1 in nonconference games – could hear their names called on Saturday when the CCS tournament berths are announced.
This week's WCAL tourney is really for nothing more than bragging rights. That's a lot. It's what this league prides itself on. That and a boatload of talent. Here are eight players to watch this week.

Marsh has lived up to his Prime 31 top billing this year by hitting .548 while going 6-2 with a 0.83 earned-run average this year.
At the Plate
Batting Average: .548 (.635 on-base percentage, .877 slugging percentage)
Hits: 40 (14 doubles)
RBI: 27
Runs: 18
On the Mound
Record: 6-2
ERA: 0.83
We're not bragging -- OK, maybe we are -- but we went 2-for-2 with our Prime 31 picks. If there were a 1A, Josephson, who has been every bit as dominant as Marsh, would be it.
At the Plate
Batting Average: .506 (.598 on-base percentage and .859 slugging percentage)
Hits: 43
Home runs: 7 (leads the Peninsula)
Runs: 34
Stolen bases: 23
On the Mound
Record: 2-1 (all in relief)
ERA: 3.77
Horn has been everything advertised. He leads off and plays shortstop for the Wildcats and is the closer out of the bullpen. He's hit 94 mph on the radar gun this year.
Batting Average: .359 (.490 on-base percentage)
Home runs: 6
Runs: 26
Walks: 20
On the Mound
Record: 2-1 (1 save)
Strikeouts: 30 in 14 innings
Bragging time is done. Not including Ketelsen in the Prime 31 was an epic fail. Our biggest mistake. If we were putting together the list today, he's top five without question.
At the Plate
Batting Average: .306 (.682 slugging percentage)
Hits: 26 (9 doubles, 4 triples and 5 home runs)
Runs: 29
RBI: 22
On the Mound
Record: 4-0
ERA: 0.56
Strikeouts: 69

The University of the Pacific commit has been solid all season for the Padres -- at the plate, in the field and on the bases.
Batting Average: .414 (.495 on-base percentage)
Hits: 36 (4 triples)
Runs: 20
RBI: 21
Stolen bases: 13

After missing his entire freshman season with a knee injury, Jack Leeper has burst onto the scene in his first year of high school baseball. He batted leadoff most of the year and has made the Lancers offense go.
Batting Average: .323 (.432 on-base percentage)
Hits: 24
Runs: 26
Stolen Bases: 26 (WCAL leader)

Davis Minton didn't pitch an inning until April. The Padres have brought him along slowly. Last week, he no-hit Riordan, while batting in the middle of the Padres batting order.
Batting Average: .365
Hits: 31
Home runs: 3
RBI: 21

The Monarchs took a hit when senior shortstop Waylon Walsh went down with a thumb injury in April. Man, we miss watching him play. First baseman Grayson Munoz has picked up the slack and carried Mitty since then.
Batting Average: .429 (.494 on-base percentage, .757 slugging percentage)
Hits: 30
Home runs: 6
RBI: 28
