The Mustangs, some think, could be a team that flies under the radar this season in the SCVAL-De Anza Division, thanks to the return of a core of senior leadership, including shortstop Drew Hamburger.

Hamburger, who will attend Washington University of St. Louis in the fall, is coming off a season where he hit .286 with 18 hits, 13 runs scored and 11 RBI. He'll also do some pitching for the Mustangs.

Centerfielder Jayden Duong, who will attend Vassar College next year, is a four-year varsity player. He hit .273 last season with 21 hits, 13 runs scored and 10 RBI.

Left fielder Ren Ohara hit .267 last year, while junior first baseman Ajay Lohista hit .244 with 19 hits and 15 RBI as a sophomore.

"I like our opportunity to compete in the league this year and in the (CCS) playoffs," said coach Travis Sunseri. "We have a strong solid class with a solid core of underclassmen. We're bringing back key pieces at all positions with our offense staying intact.

"We will be competitive and a team to watch."

Newcomers expected to step into the Mustangs' lineup include junior infielder Aiden Maylard, who hit .338 with 3o RBI at the junior varsity level last year, junior Ethan Wang, who can play multiple positions, and sophomore catcher Josh Fraleigh.
