Terra Nova bounced back from a 3-2 loss in its PAL-Ocean Division opener, thanks to Aiden James, who threw six strong innings and led a nine-hit Tigers offensive attack in an 8-1 win in Pacifica.

James allowed just a run on three hits against a solid San Mateo lineup. He also had two doubles and drove in three runs as Terra Nova salvaged the series split.

"Aiden got ahead in the count many times and that allowed him to utilize his strengths on the mound," said Terra Nova coach Jared Milch. "He's good at throwing all three pitches for strikes and keeping hitters off balance."

James limited traffic on the basepaths but was also good at keeping the Bearcats off balance when they got on base.

"He did a great job of holding runners and mixing up his timing against a team that runs the bases well," Milch said.

Things don't get any easier for the Tigers, who on Friday will host fifth-ranked Sequoia in the first night game on Terra Nova's newly renovated diamond.

Catcher Joey Donati drove in two runs, while Jesse Martinez had two hits for Terra Nova.

San Mateo's lone bright spot came on a double by Christian Louie, the on the mound and at the plate in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.
