Menlo remains in striking distance

Zach Roeder homered and drove in two runs, while Liam Widner and Renner Barnett had two hits each in the Knights' 6-1 victory.

The win allowed Menlo to stay within striking distance of the Bay Division lead, heading into Wednesday's series finale in San Bruno.

Jackson Flanagan threw four shutout innings to earn the win, while Reid Plamondon gave up a run over three innings of work.

Capuchino, which will play Burlingame on Friday at Oracle Park, got two hits from Jacob Zayac.

Burlingame 10, Hillsdale 0

Junior Mark O'Grady had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs as Burlingame took a half-game lead in the PAL Bay Division with a 10-0 road victory at Hillsdale.

Slade Flores added a home run and three RBI for the Panthers, who have had trouble stringing together big innings this year and have instead hung their collective hats on solid pitching and defense.

On Monday, Drew Gall got the call and allowed one hit in five scoreless innings. He struck out seven and proved to be just what Burlingame needed as it heads into Wednesday's series finale with the Knights, which will be followed by a Friday showdown with Capuchino at Oracle Park. The Panthers now have the ability to line up starters Nash Trautwein and Daniel MacMillan for the rest of the week.

Hillsdale will face Carlmont on Saturday at Oracle.

Oscar Osuna-Lopez had two hits, while Jean-Luc Uharriet drove in two runs for Burlingame.

Hugo Guzman had Hillsdale's lone hit, while Dante Vittori came out of the bullpen to make his season debut on the mound and throw two innings. He was Hillsdale's most effective pitcher.
