Dominic Myung had his second decisive two-run single in three days. However, unlink Wednesday's hit, which ended a 12-2 win by The King's Academy, the hit on Friday was far more dramatic.

Myung's single broke an 8-8 tie and lifted the Knights into sole possession of the PAL-Bay Division lead.

It came after Capuchino had rallied from an 8-4 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Taiyo Petersen, the winning pitcher in Wednesday's win, led The King's Academy with three hits and three RBI, but made two costly defensive errors at second base in Capuchino's sixth-inning rally.

Senior catcher Nate Plata, who says he's in a slump, had two hits and two RBI.

The Mustangs, who fell to 0-3 in the Bay Division, got three hits and three RBI from Jordan Estrella, while junior second baseman Jake Wilson drove in two runs.

Things don't get any easier for the Mustangs, who host Sequoia on Wednesday in the opening game of a two-game series. The King's Academy is scheduled to play Santa Cruz on Saturday before beginning a series with visiting Hillsdale on Wednesday.

Wilcox 4, Palo Alto 2

After losing three straight and virtually ending any chance of catching Los Gatos in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League-De Anza Division standings, Wilcox needed a win in the worst way.

The Chargers got it. A 4-2 victory over visiting Palo Alto pulled them out of their doldrums and might serve as a launching pad to a second-half burst that earns the Chargers a berth in next month's Central Coast Section tournament.

We'll find out for sure if this was a starting point on Wednesday when Wilcox travels to Mountain View for the first game of a series.

Sophomore Josh Porda, who was called up to the varsity last week, allowed two runs on four hits over 4 1/3 innings to pick up the victory. Ryan Cabildo allowed one hit over the final 2 2/3 innings to earn the save.

"Our kid threw a gem," said Wilcox coach Matthew Huth. "He threw a great game and then Ryan came in and shut it down."

Huth said Porda, who had had two strong starts, has earned a spot on the Wilcox rotation.

Wilcox scored three runs in the first and one more in the second and then rode its defense and pitchers the rest of the way.

Albert Pellizzari had three hits for Palo Alto, while Jackson Sims added two hits.

Los Gatos 3, Green Hill 2, 8 innings

The Wildcats made it a clean sweep of Tennessee by scoring a run in the top of the eighth and then getting the final three outs in the bottom of the inning to win, 3-2.

With the score tied at two, Beau Musser led off the top of the eighth with a single. He stole second and third bases before scoring on an infield grounder from junior second baseman Chase Frolich.

That was enough to make a winner out Sebastian Schaffer, who pitched the final two innings in relief. Chase Oberthier started and threw four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, while striking out four.

Musser and Brady Simon had two hits each for the Wildcats, who will return to SCVAL-De Anza Division play on Friday when they host Santa Clara.
