Saint Francis, which was upset in the CCS-Division I semifinals, will open the NorCal playoffs on Tuesday with a game many were predicting might be the final.
The Lancers will travel to De La Salle to take on the defending NorCal champion. The Spartans defeated Granada, 6-0, on Saturday to capture the North Coast Section championship and claim the top seed in the eight-team NorCal-Division I bracket.
Valley Christian, which defeated Soquel, 6-0, on Saturday to win the CCS crown, will open with a home game against No. 5 Bullard.
Two Peninsula CCS champions – Menlo School and Half Moon Bay – received high seeds in lower divisions and will open their respective tournaments with home games.
Menlo, the No. 2 seed in the Division III tournament after beating Wilcox to win their third straight CCS crown, will open with visiting James Logan. The Knights opened the season with an 11-1 victory over Logan in the Battle for Atherton in late February.
Half Moon Bay, which won its first-ever CCS championship on Friday with a 1-0 victory over San Mateo, drew the top seed in the Division IV bracket. The Cougars, who are riding a school-record 12--game winning streak, will play Sonoma Valley on Tuesday.
Archbishop Mitty, which won the CCS-Division II championship on Friday, will open play in the Division II bracket by traveling to top-seeded Clayton Valley.
Third-seeded Los Gatos will Rio Americano in a Division II game.
