Chase Oberthier outdueled Mountain View's Brennan Dooley to give Los Gatos a 4-0 victory and keep the Wildcats unbeaten after a week of SCVAL-De Anza Division play.

Oberthier struck out eight in five innings of work to pick up the victory.

Lane Newman and Beau Musser had two hits each for Los Gatos, while Chase Frolich drove in three of the Wildcats' four runs.

Los Gatos will take on Wilcox in a big De Anza Division series next week, while Mountain View takes on Los Altos.

St. Ignatius Prep 4, Carlmont 3

Archer Horn continued his hot start to the season with three hits, including a double, and AJ Wineinger collected two hits, drove in two runs and registered a save as St. Ignatius Prep won its third straight game, this one maybe more competitive that some expected.

Carlmont, which got just one hit on Tuesday in a five-inning mercy-rule loss to Sacred Heart Prep, played the No. 2-ranked team on the Peninsula to a one-run game.

The Scots, who have now lost four straight games, will try to get back into the win column on Saturday when they host Archbishop Mitty, another WCAL foe that is off to a 6-1 start.

As for St. Ignatius Prep, this was their final tuneup before the start of the WCAL season Tuesday against visiting Mitty.

Tycco Giametti picked up the victory for the Wildcats. Carlmont managed just four hits, two of them by sophomore infielder Lucas Chan.

Junior Tyler Romig came off the bench to collect two hits, including a home run, and drive in three runs for Bellarmine, which has scored 27 runs and hit five home runs in the last two days.

Jack Danna, Brady Fox and Warren Lam had two hits each, while Ryder Suba picked up the victory on the mound.

The fourth-ranked Bells open the WCAL season Tuesday against visiting Valley Christian.

Menlo School 4, Piedmont Hills 2

Just like last season, the Knights are finding their groove again, just in time for the start of the PAL-Bay Division season.

Reil Plamondon struck out 12 on Friday in Menlo School's 4-2 victory over Piedmont Hills, a CCS-Division IV semifinalist a year ago.

The victory improved Menlo's record to 5-3 heading into Wednesday's league opener with visiting Hillsdale.

Fletcher Cahill and Jackson Flanagan had two hits each for the Knights, while Liam Widner pitcher a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the save.

Los Altos 6, Santa Clara 3

The Eagles won their second straight game against the Bruins, thanks to a complete-game effort from team captain Anders Wood, who scattered five hits to pick up the win.

Wes Calhoun and Derek Etherington had two hits each for Los Altos. The only real damage was a two-run single by Kalani Tesimale.

Both team return to the De Anza Division schedule next week when Santa Clara takes on Homestead and Los Altos visits Mountain View.

Carter Bader drove in a season-high four runs, while centerfielder Justin Fung had two RBI for the Vikings, who improved to 2-0 in league play.

Sho Newman, who threw a shutout in his previous start, picked up the victory, while Rex Martin collected two hits for Paly.

The Mustangs got three hits from senior Drew Hamburger, while Ivan Hwang had three RBI.

Palo Alto returns to action on March 21 when it travels to Menlo-Atherton. Homestead will try for its first win of the season Wednesday against visiting Santa Clara.

Landon King had two hits and drove in five runs from the leadoff spot, and Gino Cappellazzo and Tanner Wall added home runs as Saint Francis pounded out 16 hits in a rout of previously unbeaten Capuchino.

The Lancers also got two-hit games from Jack Leeper, Sia Tulua, Cody Butler and Bennett Simon.

Kyle McMillan struck out eight in four innings of work to pick up the victory.

The Lancers open WCAL play on Tuesday against Riordan, while Capuchino will face Design Tech on Tuesday.

Serra 12, Burlingame 7

Offensively, Serra was just fine – even better than that in Friday's 12-7 victory over Burlingame at Washington Park. The Padres had 13 hits, including their first four-hit game from centerfielder Aaron Minton.

Nate Hui had three hits and five RBI, while Donovan Friedland had two hits and Jack Wessell drove home a pair.

It was Serra's pitching that kept Burlingame in the game on Friday. The Padres allowed 12 walks on a night when the Panthers could muster just two hits

Kelley Crawford went the first 2 1/3 innings and gave up four runs. The most effective Serra pitcher once again was freshman Michael Ohman, who struck out seven in 2 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball. The lefty has yet to give up a run this year.

Serra opens the WCAL season with two games against Sacred Heart Cathedral next week.
