This wasn't the way it was supposed to unfold for the Vikings, who had their ace on the mound and ended up getting into a shootout.

Aiden Brown's single up the middle scored Nick Lafon and delivered Mills with a walk-off victory that vaulted the Vikings into sole possession of third place in the PAL Ocean Division.

The Viking have won four straight games and find themselves still alive for a CCS playoff berth. It would take a sweep of Terra Nova in their season-ending series next week, but stranger things have been known to happen.

Heck, they've been happening lately in Millbrae.

This was supposed to be a bit easier. Nate Lafon was taking the mound on senior day with his dominant right arm. He ended up lasting just two innings and departed with the Vikings trailing, 6-2.

El Camino's lead grew to six, 9-3, before the Mills chipped away at the lead with three in the third and three more in the fourth. Matt Juul had a home run for Mills in the fourth.

El Camino took a 10-9 lead in the fifth, but Mills seemingly took charge of the game with a five-run inning in the bottom of the fifth to go up 14-10.

Not so fast. The Colts (6-17) scored four runs in the top of the seventh. The big hit came on a two-run game-tying double by Adrian Iniguez with two outs.

Nick Lafon led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. He stole second and, after a fly out, scored on Brown's base hit to center field.
