Freshman infielder becomes the first Saint Mary's College player ever to hit for the cycle.
Ian Josephson, the 2025 Serra High graduate who led the Padres to the Central Coast Section-Division I crown last May, on Wednesday became the first Saint Mary's College player ever to hit for the cycle in a game.
Josephson, PeninsulaPrepBaseball.com's No. 1 player on its postseason Prime 31 countdown, achieved the feat by legging out a bases-loaded line-drive to left-center field into a double.

"I was definitely aware I was a double away from the cycle, I think it's hard to not be," Josephson told the Saint Mary's sports information department. "The mindset today was to enjoy the moment and compete at a high level. I was confident if I could control those two things the hits would follow suit."
Josephson finished the day with four hits, two runs scored and a career-high six RBI. In hitting for the cycle, he became the first Gael and just the third player in West Coast Conference history to accomplish the feat.
"Accomplishing something so amazing at such a young point in my career was incredible, especially seeing how fired up all my older teammates were," he said. "That meant the world to me. I can't wait to experience more amazing memories with this group."
Saint Mary's will be on the Peninsula this week when they begin a weekend series at Santa Clara University on Friday night.
